2023 Asia-Pacific CommsIndex: Help Us Understand In-House Communications Priorities

APACD/Ruder Finn survey will again uncover key data impacting the careers, spending plans and strategic priorities of in-house communications directors in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Asia-Pacific Association of Communication Directors is again partnering with Ruder Finn Asia on a landmark survey that benchmarks and examines key data impacting the careers, spending plans and strategic priorities of in-house communications directors in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 2023 Communications Index uncovers critical ‘real world’ insights on such areas as salaries, investment and staffing, to help in-house communicators better navigate the fast-changing demands of the critical role. Twelve months after finding considerable enthusiasm about the corporate comms function’s prospects post-Covid, this year’s edition will also explore how senior comms pros are responding to the rapid rise of generative AI tools like ChatGPT.

“After establishing the indisputable value that corporate communications brings to organizations, the Communications Index continues to help our members better understand and navigate the issues and trends that are shaping their fast-changing roles,” said APACD president Keith Morrison. “At APACD, our mission is to advance the in-house communications profession and this study is a must-read for members and their colleagues.”

Accordingly, the survey will focus on such areas as priorities and planning, investment plans, compensation, agency support and career challenges. The 15-minute survey can be accessed here, but is only open to in-house communications executives in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Alan Watts once said, ‘the only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance’,” said Ruder Finn Asia CEO Elan Shou. “It’s never so true. Political landscape changes and new tools such as AI will bring us both threats and opportunities, and I’d love to hear how people are thinking in order to better prepare this industry moving forward.”

Survey results will be published via APACD and PRovoke Media, and also shared with members via an interactive panel discussion at PRovoke’s in-person Asia-Pacific Summit later this year. The deadline to take the survey is 5 May 2023.

Last year’s CommsIndex uncovered a wealth of data about budgets, staffing, agency effectiveness and career plans.

The communications profession has never been more important to a company’s purpose, culture and strategy. Become a member of APACD and help advance our profession across the Asia-Pacific region.
